Suspects were living in a rented house without a family: Police

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Police on Tuesday collected DNA samples of more than a dozen suspects in the rape-cum-murder case of a five-year-old girl in PIB Colony on Sunday and expanded the scope of the investigation.

According to police officials, so far DNA samples of 16 suspects have been collected. Police also informed that geo fencing of the area was completed late at night and suspects were living in a rented house without family.

On the other hand, the Medico-legal Officer (MLO) of Jinnah Hospital has confirmed the rape of a 5-year-old girl Marwa. According to MLO, no signs of burns were found on the girl’s body. The body was swollen after decay.

Earlier, a body of a five-year-old girl was found stuffed inside a bag in the port city’s Essa Nagri neighbourhood.

According to police the body was found abandoned in a trash heap on an empty plot in Pir Bukhari colony.

Local residents said the body was in an appalling condition as the girl might have been set ablaze. She has been identified as Marwa, who had gone missing from PIB Colony. An FIR of her missing was registered at the relevant police station on her father’s complaint.
