Three extortionists held for demanding Rs 3 million from contractor
The accused used the name of a global terrorist organization to extort money from the contractor.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Taking action on a Dunya News report, Karachi police on Saturday arrested three extortionists from Godap area for demanding Rs 3 million as extortion money from a local contractor.
According to details, the accused used the name of a global terrorist organization ‘Daesh’ to extort money from the contractor Rasool Karim who is resident of Gulshan-e-Maymar.
Police sources said that two accused were apprehended for directly demanding the extortion money while the third was arrested for acting as facilitator.
Police sources further informed that the arrested accused were also involved in a hand grenade attack in Kharadar area last week in which one person was killed and two other sustained injuries.
Police have shifted the arrested accused to some undisclosed location for further investigation.
