Gujranwala region is rapidly becoming a hub of human trafficking.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Gujranwala region is rapidly becoming a hub of human trafficking as at least 45 people have lost their lives for trying to cross border illegally to go to Europe in two years.

According to a report filed by Dunya News, most of the victims have been killed due to firing at the border while some also died of boat capsizing.

The suspects, who make false promise to send people abroad, are at large due to inappropriate laws as there is not a single human smuggler present in any of four jails in Gujranwala. However, if security personnel arrest them, they easily get bails due to inappropriate rules.

According to legal experts, amendment in human trafficking laws and increasing sentences can reduce this crime.
