Court grants two-day physical remand of accused in organ smuggling case

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A local court in Islamabad on Tuesday remanded former section officer of Kuwait embassy Umar Shahab in Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody for two days.

The accused was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Mubashar Tirmazi.

FIA adopted the stance that Umar alongwith his group is involved in smuggling body organs of children to India.

The officials said that two brothers have already been held in the same case.

FIA asked for physical remand of the accused in order to investigate him about the whereabouts of other members of the gang involved in smuggling body organs and also about the possible link between the gang and recent hike in cases of child abduction.

Shahab used to smuggle vital body organs of children, including their kidneys and liver, to India. He has also served in Pakistani embassy in Kuwait.
