ISLAMABAD (Online) - Supreme Court (SC) has observed people are facing problems to meet their loved ones in detention centers saying constitution allows these meetings but detention centers incharges are creating difficulties.
The court further remarked“ matters be reviewed in this context. A strategy be devised in connection with recovery of missing persons.
A 3-member bench of SC headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja heard the missing person’s case Tuesday.
The court directed Faisal Siddiqui, a lawyer who is assisting the court in missing person’s case in AG office to take steps with reference to AG meeting with concerned secretaries in missing persons cases.
Faisal Siddiqui held out assurance to court about progress in these matters.
One Zia Ullah who had come from Dera Ismail Khan told the court that high court had issued orders for release of his brother Fasih Ullah and Imdad Ullah in 2010 but it is not known who have picked them up from Adiala jail and taken away.
Now it is learnt that his brothers are in detention centers at Lakki Murrawat. “I have tried to meet them but no meeting has taken place.
The court ordered for fixing his case for hearing today besides adjourning the hearing of remaining cases till July, 8.
The court directed Attorney General (AG) Munir A Malik to hold joint meeting with the secretaries of respective government departments.
Steps be taken for protection of rights of the persons detained in detention centers. Early decision be taken for trial of 84 recovered persons and a report be presented before it, court further ordered.
