LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Sialkot Stallions franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have officially been rebranded to Multan Sultans.

A formal announcement regarding the rebranding was made in a press conference attended by PSL CEO Salman Naseer, franchise’s new owner Gohar Shah and new partner Hamza Majid.

Naseer confirmed that the decision was taken following a request from Gohar Shah, the franchise's new owner.

He said the change was part of a decision to allow six potential names, and Multan Sultans was chosen as the new identity for the team.

Naseer also revealed that the first match of the season and the opening ceremony of PSL will take place in Lahore, with the excitement among fans already building. He emphasized that preparations for the event are in full swing.

Gohar Shah, CEO of the rebranded Multan Sultans, expressed his delight at bringing the representation of Southern Punjab back into the league.

Shah added that his motivation for acquiring the team was to ensure the region's visibility in the PSL. He believed that the success of the team would not only benefit the franchise but also contribute to the national cricket team’s progress.

The franchise’s new partner, Hamza Majid, also praised the partnership with Gohar Shah, highlighting that strong collaborations are essential for achieving the team's long-term goals. Shah, who has a deep passion for cricket, is expected to play a pivotal role in the Sultans' future success.
