LONDON (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Super League’s London Roadshow kicked off today at Lord’s Cricket Ground, bringing together top cricketers, investors and officials.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi, who arrived from Pakistan on Saturday, presided over the event. He said the PSL “serves as a platform for excellence and ambition” and that staging the Roadshow at Lord’s – cricket’s historic home – reflects Pakistan cricket’s rising global profile.

Naqvi noted strong interest from UK-based investors in the league’s expansion, calling the event “an important opportunity to strengthen international partnerships” as the PSL prepares to add two new teams.

Star-studded lineup

The player line-up was led by captain Babar Azam and pace legend Wasim Akram. The evening also featured opener Sahibzada Farhan, fast bowler Haris Rauf, former captain Ramiz Raja and pop singer Ali Zafar, who performed live at the event.

PSL organisers had promised an “exclusive evening” with “cricket’s biggest names”, a promise fulfilled at the packed Lord’s venue.

Fans on hand enjoyed the blend of sporting star power and entertainment as Pakistan’s icons mingled with spectators.

Expansion plans and investor interest

Officials said the London Roadshow was organised to promote the PSL brand and attract global investment. PCB chief executive Salman Naseer said the event would bring investors closer to the league’s “future roadmap,” including opportunities arising from the introduction of two new teams.

The PCB has confirmed that the 2026 season will expand from six to eight franchises, marking the first such growth in the tournament’s seven-year history.

Naseer added that the encouraging interest from foreign investors highlights the PSL’s international appeal as it seeks to become a “bigger, stronger and more internationally connected” league.

Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in the UK was also on hand. Deputy High Commissioner Haseeb bin Aziz joined other officials at the event, underscoring the government’s support for the league’s global outreach. Overall, the London Roadshow was billed as a key milestone in the PSL’s international strategy, emphasising the tournament’s ambitious expansion plans and growing global profile.
