LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Spinner Abrar Ahmed has made a significant leap, moving up 11 places to secure the ninth spot in the ICC Men's ODI Bowler Rankings following the team’s 3-0 series sweep against Sri Lanka.
His impressive performance was a key factor in Pakistan’s dominance over their Asian rivals.
Pacer Haris Rauf also saw a notable improvement, climbing five spots to 23rd in the ODI bowler rankings, further strengthening Pakistan's bowling attack. Both Ahmed and Rauf were pivotal in Pakistan's 3-0 victory, which also saw a number of their teammates make significant strides in the rankings.
In addition to the bowling success, there were notable gains for Pakistan's batters. Mohammad Rizwan climbed five places, now sharing 22nd position, while Fakhar Zaman also made a strong push, rising five spots to 26th in the ODI batter rankings.
While Afghanistan's Rashid Khan continues to hold the top position in the ODI bowling rankings, Pakistan's recent performances in the series against Sri Lanka have helped several players make eye-catching improvements in the latest update.
Pakistan players also make some gains on the latest T20I rankings following the start of their home tri-series with Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, with Mohammad Nawaz rewarded following his Player of the Match heroics in the opening match against Zimbabwe.
Nawaz improves four places to 27th for T20I bowlers and gains two places to move to eighth overall on the list for T20I all-rounders after contributing an unbeaten 21 and a pair of wickets in a first-up victory over Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell has become the second New Zealander to hold the No.1 spot for ODI batters, even as South Africa captain Temba Bavuma also climbs in Test rankings.
Rohit Sharma's time as the No.1-ranked ODI batter is over as New Zealander Daryl Mitchell rose to the top of the ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings on the back of an excellent century against the West Indies.
Mitchell scored his seventh ODI century during the opening game in the series against the Caribbean side, and that proved enough for the in-form right-hander to overtake Rohit at the top of the batter rankings and claim the premier position for the first time in his career.
