No charges could be proven against the cricketer
MANCHESTER (Dunya News) – In a latest development, the Manchester police have dismissed a rape case against Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali.
According to British police sources, the case against Haider Ali was dropped due to insufficient evidence. The national cricketer, who has been cleared of the rape allegation, will have his passport returned within a few hours and will be able to travel to and from the UK freely.
Police had previously taken additional time to investigate, but no charges could be proven against the cricketer.
The British-Pakistani woman who made the accusation first met Haider Ali at a Manchester hotel on July 23. The cricketer was arrested two weeks later following the rape allegation.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed that the woman met Haider Ali for the second time on August 1 in Ashford, Kent. From the beginning, the cricketer strongly denied the rape allegations, calling them bogus.
Haider Ali was legally represented by Barrister Moin Khan. He was arrested from the players’ canteen office at the Spitfire County Cricket Ground in Kent.
