NEW YORK (Web Desk) – India have started their T20 World Cup campaign with a bang by outperforming Ireland in both batting and bowling.

India have defeated Ireland by eight wickets before their bowlers put on an impressive display.

Earlier, Indian pacers dominated on spicy pitch as they bowled out Ireland for 96 in a group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday.

Hardik Pandya claimed three-wicket haul while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeept Singh grabbed two scalps each, restricting Ireland from posting a challenging total.

Gareth Delany remained top scorer with 26 runs from Ireland as other players could not display impressive performance with bat.

Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bowl first against Ireland.

The Group A match is being played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Both teams entered the game with three wins in their last three T20Is.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in a pre-match press conference said, “I think it’s important not to look too far ahead – just think about what we need to do”.
