Led by Rovman Powell, the West Indies team enters the tournament as one of the favourites
(Web Desk) – West Indies defeated Papua New Guinea by five wickets in second match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Providence Stadium, Guyana on Sunday.
West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first and restricted Papua New Guinea to 136-8 after the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, the host chased down the target in 19th over with five wickets to spare. Roston Chase scored 42 runs while Brandon King smashed 34 runs.
Earlier, Papua New Guinea’s Sese Bau scored brilliant half-century including six fours and one six, helping his side to post 136 runs on the board.
West Indies’ Andre Russell and Joseph took two wickets each.

The four-time World Champions failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 and also missed out on the main stage of the T20 World Cup 2022. With a lot riding on their shoulders, they are determined to begin the home event on a high note.
