KARACHI (Dunya News) – A strong opening partnership guided Islamabad United to bag seven-wicket win over Karachi Kings in 15th game of the Pakistan Super League season nine (PSL 9) at National Stadium, Karachi, on Wednesday.

Opening pair Colin Munro and Alex Hales made 82 and 47, respectively, to help their side to chase 166-run target by hosts in 19 overs.

Aghan Salman made 25 while Shadab Khan scored 10 to clinch crucial victory for Islamabad United in the ongoing domestic event.

Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and put the hosts to bat first. Karachi Kings set a 166 runs target for the visitors

Kings suffered an early blow when Tim Seifert was dismissed for eight runs. Opener Shan Masood tried to put the score on board before he was removed for 27 by Hunain Shah.

Leus du Plooy made 24 while Kieron Pollar gave a boost to the total as he scored unbeaten 48 for 28. His fiery innings helped Kings set a fighting total against the visitors.

It was the first match at home ground for Shan Masood-led Karachi but they could not maintain their winning streak.

After losing opening match against Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars in their next encounters. They are currently at the fourth spot on the points table.

Islamabad United, the other hand, began with an eight-wicket victory over reigning champions Lahore Qalandars. However, they lost their way and faced defeats at the hands of Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
