Shah Khawar takes charges as interim PCB chief after PM accepts Zaka Ashraf's resignation
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee has issued a notification for appointment of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi as member of the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Patron and caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq made the appointment under Article 10 (1) (d) of the PCB Constitution 2014. He has also approved the resignation of former chairman of PCB management committee Zaka Ashraf.
Following the approval of the resignation, PCB election commission Shah Khawar has assumed charge as interim chairman of the board under the set rules. He will perform the duty as PCB chief until the elections for the new chairman are held.
The prime minister had directed Mr Naqvi to assume post as member of BoG. The caretaker CM has been tasked with reconstitution of the board of governors as elections for the PCB chairman will be held after forming the new BoG.
Mr Naqvi will contest election for the PCB chairman position. It is recalled that appointment of the permanent chief is made for a period of three years.
