(Web Desk) – Pakistan is likely to replace a pacer with spinner Usama Mir in the playing XI for a match against Australia.

The Babar Azam’s side is all set to take on Aussies in its fourth encounter of the World Cup 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Pakistan have won two of three matches they have played so far. They suffered a defeat in a match against India.

Sources said the management might induct leg-spinner Mir in place of a fast bowler keeping in view the nature of the wicket.
Usama was the first from the Team Green to be hit by viral infection before the India match. He has now fully recovered as he attended the training session in Bangalore.

He is being considered favourite for the match as the wicket at Chinnaswamy Stadium is favourable for spinners.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PBC) said opening batsman Fakhar Zama and all-rounder Agha Salman are recovering from their illness.

The board in a statement said Zaman was being treated for a knee injury and he will be available for selection next week.

Salman is suffering from fever after attending a training session a day earlier, the PCB, adding that the rest of the team players are in good health.
