HYDERABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique has become the first Pakistani batsman to score a century on his ODI World Cup debut.

The right-armed player achieved the milestone while playing a match against Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup 2023. He showed solid batting skills and made 113 off 103 that helped Pakistan rebuilt in chase of 345-run target.

Pakistan’s chase got off to a disappointing start, with both Imam-ul-Haq (1) and Babar Azam (10) dismissed in a sluggish first powerplay, with Dilshan Madushanka taking both wickets.

But Pakistan steadied the ship and built a platform, with Abdullah Shafique reaching a century and building a sizeable partnership with Mohammad Rizwan.
