Pakistan will play two matches in this stadium

(Web Desk) – A fire broke out in the players dressing room of Kolkata's Eden Gardens Stadium, India where the ICC World Cup matches are scheduled to be played.

The inferno, which is said to have triggered owing to a short-circuit, reduced the players kits to ashes, forcing the management to call the firefighters to douse the fire.

In the World Cup scheduled to be started in October this year, the stadium will host five matches including two of Pakistan - against Bangladesh (Oct 31) and England (Nov 11).

Indian media reported that fire originated while renovation work was under way in the dressing room on Thursday. The firefighters took hours brought fire under control.

Pakistan will also play their semi-final in Kolkata, if they qualify.
