Former skipper will work on honourary basis with no salary
LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan's former Test captain Misbahul Haq has been appointed as an advisor to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf.
Misbah's appointment will be working on honourary basis. He will also head the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) cricket committee. The former Pakistan skipper will not be receiving any remuneration for his services.
The 49-year-old returns to the PCB for the first time since he was sacked by the board’s former chairman Ramiz Raja as Pakistan’s head coach. Before that, he had also served indual roles as the national side’s head coach-cum-chief selector.
Sources said Ashraf convinced Misbah to head the cricket and technical committees. The development came during Misbah's meeting with Ashraf on Monday.
Talking to journalists later, Ashraf said Misbah would advise him on all matters related to the board and represent PCB at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings.
A new selection committee is also set to be formed “after input from Misbah” comes in the coming days.
Pakistan’s most successful captain in Test cricket, Misbah will also represent PCB in the International Cricket Council’s cricket committee, sources said.
