Pakistan should boycott World Cup in India: Javed Miandad

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Former cricket great Javed Miandad has fired a broadside at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for politicising cricket.

Miandad was of the view that the Pakistan cricket team should boycott playing the World Cup in India. He called Modi an "extremist", claiming that his own people would not spare him. "As long as Narendra Modi is in power, we cannot hope for any good," Miandad added.

"We should send our team to India only if India comes to play in Pakistan in the Asia Cup," he continued.

Cricket should not be politicised, according to Miandad, who added, "We already played in India." He believed Pakistan was better than India in cricket.

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said on Friday last, "The hybrid model could work as a negotiating tool between India and Pakistan."

"Now we come to the conclusion that after 15 long years, a multilateral tournament is going to take place in Pakistan. The journey to bring back the multilateral tournament to the country was started by holding the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore in 2017," Sethi asserted.
