The skipper will join thousands of fellow Pakistanis on this sacred journey

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan's cricket team captain, Babar Azam, is preparing to undertake the holy pilgrimage of Hajj this year, according to media reports. The skipper will join thousands of fellow Pakistanis on this sacred journey, accompanied by his mother.

Sources reveal that Babar Azam is scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia in the second week of June. In addition to Babar, several other prominent cricketers, including Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Faheem Ashraf, and Fakhar Zaman, are also expected to perform Hajj this year.

Joining the cricketing fraternity on this spiritual endeavor is former Test cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq, who will be accompanied by his wife.

The Minister for Religious Affairs, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, previously announced in March that approximately 179,210 Pakistani pilgrims would participate in Hajj this year.

Prior to their Hajj plans, Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, and Haris Rauf, along with other national cricketers, undertook the lesser pilgrimage of Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan.

Notably, the Pakistan cricket team is not scheduled for any international assignments until late July when they are slated to tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series. However, there is a possibility that the ICC Test Championship matches might be converted into One-Day Internationals (ODIs) if Sri Lanka qualifies for the World Cup.

As the cricketing stars prepare for their spiritual journey, fans and well-wishers eagerly anticipate their safe return, hoping that their spiritual experience brings blessings and further success to the Pakistani cricket team.
