ACC accepts 'hybrid model' proposed by PCB for Asia Cup 2023

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has accepted the “hybrid model” proposed by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi to host Asia Cup in September this year.
As per the hybrid model, Pakistan will host four to six matches of the Asia Cup matches at home and at the same time India will play their matches at a neutral venue.
The BCCI has refused to allow the India team to travel to Pakistan for the tournament because of the ongoing political differences between the two nations and demanded the continental tournament be shifted from Pakistan to a neutral venue.
But Pakistan wants to host as much of the tournament within the country.
Reports said the ACC had agreed to the hybrid model proposed by Mr Sethi in principle and without laying forth any new conditions, including Pakistan’s participation in the October World Cup to be held in India. The Asian body is expected to make a formal announcement in coming weeks.
The Asia Cup will feature six teams, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and one team that will be identified after the qualifiers, which is currently underway in Nepal.
