Sethi gives his take about series against Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said on Thursday that he was not willing to send team to play in India, if the neighbouring country showed resistance to sending the team in Pakistan.
Speaking to media, Mr Sethi said, "Discussions are underway to decide the venue of the Asia Cup. India proposed moving the Asia Cup from Pakistan to a neutral location. We were of the view that how could we visit to India, if the neighbouring country is not willing to send its team to Pakistan."
"If India is showing resistance in connection with the political issue. So, we also have a political issue," maintained Mr Sethi.
Mr Sethi talked about the recent series against Afghanistan, saying, "We rested our top players and sent team comprised of fringe players for the series. The objective behind making changes in the team was to test the skills of the young players."
"In connection with the test in the series, some of the players failed and others earned success. But it is also a fact, that there is a huge difference in the pitches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the pitches used for Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in our country. This was a successful experiment as the Pakistan team were accompanied by merely the local coaches," added Mr Sethi.
Speaking about the management committee, Mr Sethi said he was having a honorary post of the PCB, adding that he reaped no benefits. The mandate of the management committee will expire in April, after which the elections of the board will be held.
