‘No sifarish on PSL tickets, player selection ‘: Najam Sethi requests friends, higher-ups

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Najam Sethi requested on Friday that friends and higher-ups should not ask for favours for the tickets of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) eighth edition.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Sethi opted for "interesting words" to pen his request. "I am making a personal request to all friends and high-ups NOT to ask for free tickets/passes to PSL matches starting next month. The Public Accounts Committee of National Assembly that audits PCB has warned us to desist from this practise!"

"I am also requesting friends and high-ups not to do sifarish for selection of any player or coach, etc, or to give employment or facilitation to any undeserving person. PCB competes with top professional organisations in the world and cannot afford to be inefficient," he maintained.

Mr Sethi also spoke at a press conference about the Pakistan Super League (PSL), saying the last year was "great" for the PSL and that, after the IPL, the PSL was the biggest cricket brand. As for Balochistan’s cricket future, Mr Sethi stated that the exhibition match woudl be held in the province, but it would be difficult to hold a match in Balochistan for the eighth edition of the PSL.

Talking about singer Ali Sethi’s possibilities of performing the PSL anthem, Mr Sethi said, “I’m disappointed that Ali won’t be able to perform the PSL Anthem. That’s how Ali feels as well”.
