Will consider if PCB offers coaching task, says Inzamam

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Former Pakistan cricketer and Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq has said if he will get an offer for coaching from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he will give it a thought.

Speaking with media in Lahore, the former batter said, “I have not been contacted by the board or being offered any post of chief selector or coach and if I will be given any offer, I will think about it.”

While backing Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, he said, “If any player has pressure on him, his performance gets affected. Babar’s performance in all three formats is phenomenal, he has no pressure on him but one learns captaincy with time. He must be given more time to lead the team.”

He further said cricket matches with other countries are always welcome whether the match is against Afghanistan or India.

He said an international coach was not an answer to Pakistan’s woes, Pakistani coaches can also be a good option. “In my tenure, Mickey Arthur did well but now Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf are also doing well. It is not about national or international coach, whoever has played cricket can coach.”

He also talked about the eighth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). “Matches should be played in all major cities including Peshawar. If PSL matches will be played in these cities then international teams will also agree to play at different venues,” he said.
