Kamran Akmal questions Babar's captaincy in England Test series
LAHORE (Web Desk) – After a white wash defeat by the hands of England, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has faced a lot of criticism.
Former cricketer Kamran Akmal strongly criticised Babar Azam and his leadership following Pakistan’s demoralizing 3-0 loss in the Test series against England on home soil. The experienced wicketkeeper-batsman stated that there was nothing positive to say about Babar’s captaincy in the series against England, and instead praised Ben Stokes for guiding the visiting team to a historic series victory.
He further mentioned that England’s team badly exposed Pakistan’s cricket, mentality, and system while questioning the team’s playing XI selection for the Test series.
Kamran also said Babar must learn captaincy from England’s Ben Stokes, while also adding that the Pakistan skipper shows some maturity after leading the side for so long.
According to Hindustan Times, Kamran Akmal said on his YouTube channel: “Any country that wins a series in Pakistan, it’s a big achievement for them. Very big achievement for England. They came after so long, it was a historical series and they made Pakistan a history.”
He continued, “They told us, ‘We have exposed your cricket, your mentality, your system. Now, you take the decision on how to improve your cricket’. They played their own cricket. We know where we made mistakes. Those who made their debut, did they deserve it? Did we play the XI according to pitch?
The captaincy wasn’t perfect. You look at Ben Stokes’ captaincy and Babar’s captaincy... he has been Pakistan’s skipper for so long, at least have some maturity now, and take better decisions. At least make your presence feel in the ground. There was nothing positive about him.”
Akmal mentioned that nobody was talking about or praising Babar and the Pakistan team throughout the Test series because the hosts played with a negative approach against England.
He signed off by saying, “From the first Test till the last day of the series, every time there was a press conference, commentators and media, everyone was talking about how England dominated Pakistan. No one talked about us, no one praised us because we played with a negative approach.”
