KARACHI (Dunya News) – England have thrashed Pakistan in the third Test as well by eight wickets to script the history on Tuesday at the National Stadium, Karachi. With this win, England became the first visiting team to whitewash the Men in Greens in a series at their homeground.
In the post-match press conference, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said, “Very much disappointed with the result of the Test series. We were not able to fight back against England. We will be criticised on playing defensive cricket. We will be criticised on playing T20 cricket in a Test match. Hence nobody will be satisfied until Pakistan wins.”
Answering a question, he said he had no plans of stepping down as Pakistan captain, adding, “I enjoy pressure. It does not affect my batting or captaincy. I am honoured to be the captain of Pakistan.” He added that the main fast bowlers of Pakistan became unfit in the Test series against England and the new fast bowlers who were given chance were unable to execute.
To a question regarding the behaviour of the pitch, he said, “The home team can only express its desire in front of curator regarding the preparation of pitch. The pitches behave the same way for Pakistan and England.”
He also confessed, “Pakistan lacked in the batting performance and lost back to back wickets against England which resulted into pressure on us.” While he added, “Pakistan is in a phase of building a Test team right now which is a reason of six debutants in the series against England. Our experienced players were either out of form or unfit which cost us the series. Pakistan needs time to build a test team. We have to support our youngsters who have been brought in the Test squad.”
Babar also lauded the new inclusion in Pakistan team, the mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, and saying, “England’s batters were unable to understand the mystery spin of Abrar.”
On a question about not including Sarfaraz Ahmed in the playing eleven, Pakistan skipper said, “Mohammad Rizwan is playing Test cricket consistently whereas Sarfaraz Ahmed played first-class cricket. The series against England was important hence we preferred to choose those players who have been with the team.”

Chasing the target of 167 in the second innings, England made 170/2 in just 28.1 overs with Ben Duckett (82*), and skipper Ben Stokes remained unbeaten on 35.
With this loss, Babar became the first ever Pakistani captain to lose four consecutive test matches at home. He lost three games against England in this series and one against Australia earlier. Babar Azam and his men were nowhere near the level of the English team, and that was shown in the result. The English star Harry Brook, who scored the most runs in the series, won “Man of the Series” and “Man of the Match” in the third game as well. He scored 468 runs in five innings at 93.60 with a strike rate of 93.41 and three centuries.
