'Ingenious' Joe Root finds Leach’s head to shine the ball

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – While struggling to take the Pakistani side down on the tardy pitch of Rawalpindi, the star English batsman Joe Root was recorded shining the ball over the sweaty head of left arm pacer Jack Leach.

Joe’s unique way of shining the ball not only helped spread smiles on the commentators’ faces but also went viral on the internet, sparking a light response from the audience.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the video on its Twitter handle and wrote, "Absolutely ingenious!"

Comments started pouring in from the audience, with some saying "Not only South Asians are jugaadu – innovative with less resources – but whites too" and others imploring "Is it the pitch that made him do so?"

Root returned to the pavilion on 23 runs in the first innings while batting first against Pakistan after falling prey to Zahid Mahmood’s pad-hitting delivery while pacer Jack Leach has got two wickets against 160 runs.

Pakistan is 499/7 on the third day of the test, trailing by 158 runs against England’s mounting 657.
