Aamir Jamal praises Babar for backing him in final over in 5th T20I.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan fast bowler Aamir Jamal said that skipper Babar Azam backed him thoroughly during the last over of England’s run-chase in the fifth match of the T20 International series on Wednesday, September 28 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

On debut, Jamal was given the responsibility to defend 15 runs and he did his job with sheer precision. With eight runs needed off the last two balls, Jamal conceded only one run and helped Pakistan secure a six-run win and a 3-2 series lead.

"The plan was to stick to the same strategy and I asked Babar bhai what to do. He asked me to bowl wide Yorkers. He gave me the field and asked me not to deviate from the plan even if I bowled a wide. The plans paid off thanks to Allah," Jamal was quoted as saying after the match.

Jamal said that he didn t feel much pressure after he bowled the first ball of the over to a well-set England all-rounder Moeen Ali.

"Pressure was there in the first delivery, after which there was no pressure. I conceded a wide as I found it hard to grip the ball because of dew. Babar came up and motivated me and gave me the confidence to do well," he stated.

Jamal was aware of the fact that his task may not be easy after Haris Rauf conceded 13 runs in the 19th over by giving away a couple of boundaries.

"When I saw Haris being hit for a four and a six in the penultimate over, I was trying to figure out my plans. I had to keep my nerves in control," Jamal added.

Jamal also picked up the wicket of Sam Curran, who was threatening to take the match away from Pakistan with an 11-ball knock of 17.

Pakistan will look to take an unassailable 4-2 lead in the series when they lock horns with England in the sixth T20I on September 30.
