West Indies cricketer Daren Sammy receives Sitara-e-Pakistan Award

LAHORE (Web Desk) – West Indies star cricketer and former captain Daren Sammy has been conferred with Sitara-e-Pakistan on Monday for his individual effort to revive cricket in Pakistan.

Taking to his Instagram, he shared the pictures of the ceremony and wrote, “Cricket took me all over the world enabling me to see and play in some amazing places. Pakistan is definitely one of these places. A place that always makes me feel at home.”

On receiving the prestigious award, he said, “It’s such an honor to have received this prestigious award (Sitara-I-Pakistan) from the Government and people of Pakistan. Thank you.”

The current head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi also used a hashtag of “Pakistan Zindabad”.

 

Congratulating the former captain of his team, Peshawar team’s owner Javed Afridi said, “Congratulations brother @darensammy88! Well Deserved Sitara-i-Pakistan! Your Contribution for Pakistan Cricket revival will be written in Golden Words & in our hearts forever.”

 

The star cricketer was wearing a blue blazer and white Shalwar Kameez on the occasion.
