PSL 7: Islamabad United thrash Karachi Kings by 42 runs
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Skipper Shadab Khan wreaked havoc as Islamabad United claimed a remarkable 42-runs victory over Karachi Kings in the 14th game of the seventh edition of Pakistan Super League at The National Stadium in Karachi.
The Kings have lost their 5th consecutive match of PSL 7 today (Sunday).
Batting first, Islamabad United set a target of 178 runs which Karachi Kings failed to achieve and were 135 for 9 at the end of the 20th over.
United s captain Shadab Khan was wonderful with the ball claiming four wickets that too made him the leading wicket taker of PSL 7. He also added 34 runs to the scorecard for his team.
On the other hand, Karachi Kings batters seemed to be struggling against the United s bowling line up. The early loss of two key wickets of skipper Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan gave a huge blow to the Kings. In addition to the opening batters, five of the other Karachi Kings batsmen couldn t enter into the double figures.
Sahibzada Farhan from the Kings side appeared to bringing hopes back for his team until he was run out in Shadab Khan s over at 25 off 18.
Coming at number 7th, Muhammad Nabi hammered some belligerent hits smashing 5 fours and 2 sixes but that was too late for the Kings. Nabi remained not out adding 47 off 28 balls to the King s scorecard.
Earlier today, Islamabad United won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled up a total of 177 runs against Kings.
For Islamabad, Paul Stirling has maintained a steady play and helped the team United with scoring 39 runs off 30 balls smashing 3 fours and 2 sixes while Shadab Khan rolled in and scored 34 runs off 19 balls.
Karachi Kings bowler Chris Jordan swiped two wickets leveling up the field for the Kings. The Islamabad United winded up batting at the target of 178 runs with the loss of six wickets.
For Kings, the PSL 7 campaign have so far been miserable as they lost all five games played in Karachi. Languishing at the bottom of the point s table of PSL 7, the Karachi Kings need a lot of fortune now in their matches ahead in Lahore in order to make it to the top-four.
On the other hand, Islamabad United have now won three out of their five games of the PSL 7 and it seem to be no problem for the United to make it to the top four.
