T20 World Cup could be moved to UAE: BCCI official
BCCI official has confirmed that the T20 World Cup would be moving to the United Arab Emirates UAE
(Web Desk) – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this year s T20 World Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates if the COVID-19 crisis means the tournament can t proceed in India.
Dhiraj Malhotra, a senior BCCI official, has confirmed that the T20 World Cup would be moving to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) if India is not in a position to host it later this year.
"It would be the UAE. We re hoping again that it would be done by the BCCI. So, we ll take the tournament there, but it ll still be done by the BCCI. I ve just been named one of the tournament directors, so I m doing everything we can to make sure it happens (in India). We will be doing the normal scenario, COVID scenario and worst-case scenario, so with all that we re talking to the ICC at the moment," Malhotra said.

While the BCCI has maintained that the ongoing 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will continue despite concerns from several foreign players, hosting an event as big as the T20 World Cup could be a massive challenge for India if the Covid-19 situation doesn’t improve significantly in the next three-four months.
Compared to the eight-team IPL tournament, the T20 World Cup will see the participation of 16 international teams.
