KARACHI (Dunya News) – Central Punjab’s left-arm-spinner Kamran Afzal took seven wickets as Sindh were dismissed for 174 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the sixth-round match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy three-day tournament for Second XIs being played at the TMC Ground, Karachi. Southern Punjab’s Waqar Hussain and Sindh’s Faraz Ali scored centuries, pcb.com.pk said.

Northern vs Southern Punjab, KCCA Stadium, Karachi:

Southern Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. Waqar Hassan’s 114 off 208 balls guided the team to their 325 for five total in 83 overs. Rameez Alam scored unbeaten 72 while Mohammad Basit made 57 off 88 balls. Salman Irshad took three wickets.

Northern finished the day at 24 for no loss in five overs

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Balochistan, State Bank Stadium, Karachi:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the toss and asked Balochistan to bat first, Balochistan were dismissed for 225 runs in 79.5 overs in their first innings. Shahbaz Khan top-scored with an unbeaten 59 off 131 balls, his innings included four fours and one six. Gulraiz Sadaf scored 38. Asif Afridi took four for 58 while Mohammad Abbas Afridi took two wickets for 39 runs.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended the first day at 34 for no loss in their first innings.

Sindh vs Central Punjab, TMC Ground, Karachi:

Central Punjab won the toss and asked Sindh to bat; left-arm-spinner Kamran Afzal took seven wickets for 56 runs in 27.3 overs as Sindh were rolled over for 174 in 66.2 overs.

Opener Faraz Ali scored 100 runs with the help of eight fours (173 balls) while his partner Jahanzaib Sultan contributed 28 runs before Kamran dismantled the Sindh batting line-up.

In reply, Central Punjab reached 122 for no loss at close of play as openers Muhammad Akhlaq (75 not out) and Imran Dogar (46 not out) further strengthened their team’s position after Kamran’s bowling exploits.
