Usman Shinwari replaces injured Hasan Ali in Sri Lanka ODIs.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq has on Saturday announced the one-day international (ODI) squad for upcoming home series against Sri Lanka.
Misbah-ul-Haq held a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore and told that Sarfraz Ahmed has been retained as captain while Babar Azam will perform the duty of his deputy. Hasan Ali will not be a part of the team owing to back spasm. Usman Shinwari has replaced him.
The other players include Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Hasnain, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Wahab Riaz, Abid Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Amir.
Misbah-ul-Haq maintained that all three openers and other youngsters are performing well in ODIs. Fakhar Zaman’s performance in the 50-over format is good and Abid Ali has been scoring runs in domestics matches, he added.
He stressed that future planning is key to success. Misbah-ul-Haq said Ahmed Shehzad performed well in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and will be given a chance in the Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) along with Umar Akmal.
