Sarfraz Ahmed barred from holding presser in Karachi
Sarfraz Ahmed has been excluded in Pakistan's ODI series against Australia starting from March 22.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday has barred Pakistan national team and Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed from addressing a scheduled press conference in Karachi.
It is being anticipated that the media could have raised certain questions regarding his exclusion from the one-day international (ODI) series against Australia.
Sarfraz was about to address the media in Karachi’s National Stadium around 4pm, however, the PCB directed him to record a message instead.
Meanwhile, Gladiators’ coach Moin Khan in his talk to the media, said that the franchise had asked Sarfraz to not hold the presser as it could become a source of contention.
The Gladiators skipper was likely to hold a presser as other captains of the franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Pakistan has named a 16-member squad for the five-match ODI series against Australia starting from March 22 in Dubai.
The selectors have rested six players from the squad that lost 2-3 to South Africa earlier this year, including Captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, whereas Hussain Talat has been dropped, and Mohammad Hafeez was not considered as he is recovering from a thumb surgery.
Shoaib Malik has been selected to lead the side.
