(Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former captain of Pakistan cricket team Imran Khan on Wednesday felicitated Afghanistan on winning ICC 2018 World Cup qualification tournament.

The tournament was held in Zimbabwe.

Khan took to popular microblogging website Twitter and posted the following message:

“Congratulations to Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai & the Afghan Cricket team for winning the ICC 2019 World Cup qualification tournament in Harare. It is a remarkable achievement for a country ravaged by decades of war & with limited cricket grounds”

Afghanistan—who were at the bottom of the table after completion of first round—won four matches in a row to make it to the ICC World Cup 2018 which would be held in England.

Later in the final, they defeated pre-favourite of the tournament West Indies to win the final of the qualification tournament.

It is worth here to mention that Pakistan had won ICC World Cup in 1992 under the dynamic leadership of Imran Khan.
