It took 15 years for any Pakistani bowler to take a hat-trick in any form of cricket

(Web Desk) – Pakistani al-rounder Faheem Ashraf took three-in-three during the second T20 international against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. He became the first Pakistani bowler to take a hat-trick in the shortest format.

Faheem Ashraf registered his name into the record books by getting out three Sri Lankan batsmen in three consecutive deliveries. He was bowling the second last over of the game in which last three balls of his third over were all wickets.

He took the wickets of Udana, Udawatte and Shanaka and gave a major setback to the tourists who were already struggling to post a reasonable total to defend. Sri Lanka could only manage 124 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

The al-rounder finished with three wickets and gave away 16 runs in his three overs. He was playing his third match for the green shirts. It was Mohammad Sami who last took hat-trick for Pakistan in both Tests and ODIs during 2002.

Pakistan leads the three-match T20 series by 1-0. The third and final match is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
