Pakistan's test squad for series against Sri Lanka will be announced by Inzamam-ul-Haq tomorrow

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq will announce Pakistan’s test squad for Sri Lanka on Saturday after a selection committee meeting in Lahore, reported Dunya.

Training camp for 18-member preliminary squad is going on in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, where players are practicing their skills ahead of the test series against Sri Lanka. Pakistan last played a test in May against West Indies; therefore, this is a particularly long lay-off considering Pakistan s busy test schedule last year. Moreover, after Sri Lanka’s tour, Pakistan will not play a test series till May in England next year.

Mohammad Rizwan and Ahmed Shehzad are expected to be dropped from the team that played against West Indies in May. However, the space created by Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan is expected to be filled be Usman Sallahuddin and Haris Sohail. Moreover, star batsmen Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq will take major responsibility in the batting lineup.

Inzamam is satisfied about the fitness of Azhar Ali, however, the selection of leg spinner Yasir Shah will be dependent upon him passing a fitness test tomorrow. However, the inclusion of fast bowler Mir Hamza, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Abbas and Hassan Ali is likely. The first test match of the series will start on September 28 at Sheikh Zayed stadium, Abu Dhabi.

This will be Sarfraz Ahmed s first test assignment after being named captain of the test squad in July.
