Pakistan's 16 member squad for the World XI series announced, Kamran Akmal axed Sohail Khan returns

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced Pakistan’s 16 member squad for the World XI series scheduled to be held next month, reported Dunya News.

Sarfraz Ahmed will lead Pakistan against World XI in the historic series named Independence Cup. The three T20 matches are scheduled to be held on September 12, 13 and 15 at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.

Selectors axed seasoned wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal who played as a proper batsman during the T20 and ODI series held in West Inides earlier this year.

From the T20 squad that toured West Indies in March, selectors have axed Kamran Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Sohail Tanvir after Sarfraz Ahmed hinted on giving opportunities to youngsters in a rare home series. Mohammad Amir who was rested in that series made his way back. Sohaill Khan, who was overlooked due to his fitness, returned after clearing the fitness test held on August 22 at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Umar Amin and Aamer Yameen were selected on the basis of their consistent performances in the domestic circuit. While Faheem Ashraf was retained after his impressive show during Pakistan’s crucial win against Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trohy, 2017.
