Interior Minister responds to Najam Sethi's claim that PCB never asked FIA to investigate fixing

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chaudhry Nisar on Tuesday stated that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would never any permission from the PCB to investigate corruption in PSL.

The Interior Minister believes that any malpractice defaming the country was open to inquiry by the federally administered institution. The FIA officials aim to resolve the matter.

It appears as if Nisar has responded to the claims made by Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chairman Najam Sethi who earlier stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had never asked FIA to investigate the PSL fixing scandal. “Rather than accusing one another, we should cooperate to dig into the matter. I will personally talk to Najam Sethi”, Nisar added.

PCB never asked FIA to investigate fixing scandal, claims Sethi

Despite opposition by the PCB executive committee chairman, FIA has decided to resume its investigation into the PSL corruption case. The FIA officials made it clear that the league had experienced corruption in shape of spot-fixing and it was the duty of the agency to investigate such incidents.

They stated that spot-fixing resulted in damaging the country s image, adding that their objective is to take action against those involved in the heinous act. Meanwhile, the second largest opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has moved a resolution against Najam Sethi in Punjab Assembly in recent time.
