'Next match may be last of my career', Afridi hints at retirement

LAHORE (Dunya News) – With Pakistan’s cricket team facing disappoint after disappoint, the national cricket team’s Captain Shahid Khan Afridi has hinted towards his retirement, saying the next match may well be the last of his career.

In a talk after the World T-20 match against New Zealand, which Pakistan failed to win, Afridi said:

“The next match may be the last of my career."

Afridi stated that the bowling attack in the middle overs was good while batsmen Ahmed Shehzad and Sharjeel Khan’s knock in the initial overs was decent.

Afridi added that the match against New Zealand could have been won but the team failed to do so due to the numerous number of dot balls.

He stated that mistakes were made in every match which was not acceptable. He further stated that the team needs to overcome these short comings and concentrate on the upcoming match.

On the other hand, Afridi, taking 2 wickets in the match against New Zealand, has now become the leading wicket taker in the overall World T-20 tournaments, with 39 wickets to his name.

Afridi sent New Zealand’s Colin Munro and then Corey Anderson back to the pavilion.

The Pakistani leg-spinner is also credited with playing the most T-20 matches and being the top wicket taker in T-20.
