Asia Cup: Pakistan beat UAE by 7 wickets

DHAKA (Web Desk) - United Arab Emirates (UAE) skipper Amjad Javed won the toss against Pakistan, captained by Shahid Afridi, in the sixth match of the Asia Cup 2016 on Monday and decided to bat first, reported Dunya News.

Wahab Riaz was rested for this match and Mohammad Nawaz made his T20 debut for Pakistan in this game.

Pakistani bowlers started off the innings quite well grabbing quick wickets early-on but the UAE middle-order played sensibly, hitting the occassional deliveries out of the park as well. Pakistani bowlers did somewhat struggle at the end of the innings to grab some wickets, they did restrict the flow of runs at a point. UAE played their 20 overs and lost 6 wickets whilst giving a total of 130 to Pakistan to chase.

Pakistan lost quick wickets early-on in their innings but Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik batted with utmost determination. Both scored classy fifties and played some aggressive shots towards the end of the game. A 100 run partnership between the two saw the Men in Green defeat UAE comfortably by 7 wickets in hand with 8 balls to spare.

Overs 18.4: FOUR! PAKISTAN WIN BY 7 WICKETS! Malik cuts this one from Naveed towards offside and there is no protection there. They chase the total with 8 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand.

Overs 17.6: SIX! What an over this was! It is Malik this time as he powers this one towards midwicket region for a huge six! Pakistan inching close to their 1st victory in this tournament. They are 126/3

Overs 15.3: FOUR! Malik comes down the pitch yet again and converts this one from the quickie into a low full toss and smashes towards the cover! Pak 90/3

Overs 14.4: SIX! Malik charges down the ground hits this one from the left arm spinner for a huge six towards long-on. Pak 83/3

Overs 20.0: No run. Full and wide from Sami. The batsman thought the umpire may signal a wide ball here but he didn t. UAE finish their innings at 129 with the loss of 6 wickets.
