KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened lower on Monday as selling pressure persisted amid heightened regional tensions.
The KSE-100 index declined 407.67 points, or 0.24%, to stand at 170,357.55 as compared to previous close of 170,765.22.
During early trading, the benchmark index touched a high of 171,126.52 and a low of 170,223.62.
Trading volume stood at 36,325,052 shares, according to the market data.
Meanwhile, share markets in Asian were mostly lower on Monday as oil prices popped higher again amid doubts the United States and Iran will reach a truce anytime soon, keeping bonds under pressure ahead of a week packed with economic news.
Over the weekend, US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, claiming Tehran was desperate to make a deal. Trump said talks would continue this week, though Iran shows no sign of watering down its proposals.
Brent futures rose 2.7% to $107.16 a barrel, bringing gains so far this month to almost 18%, while US crude futures added 1.9% to $94.16 a barrel.
