ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products, with the revised rates taking effect from midnight.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.39 per litre, raising the new retail price to Rs327.12 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs7.83 per litre, bringing its new price to Rs375.04 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said the revised prices were determined on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
The new fuel prices will come into effect from 12:00 a.m. and will remain applicable until the next scheduled price revision under the government's newly introduced pricing mechanism.
Earlier, the All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Owners Association called off its planned nationwide strike after successful negotiations with the federal government.
The decision came after talks between representatives of the association and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, ending concerns over a countrywide closure of fuel stations.
The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association also endorsed the decision during a joint press conference with the petroleum minister, expressing support for the outcome of the negotiations.

The planned strike had raised fears of fuel shortages and disruption to transport and commercial activities, with motorists expected to face long queues at filling stations ahead of the shutdown.
Following the talks, however, both sides reached an understanding, prompting the dealers to withdraw the strike call and ensuring that petrol pumps would continue operating as usual.
