Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal pledges industrial tax relief, export support, and economic reforms to strengthen Pakistan’s economy, boost investment, and create jobs for youth.
JAMSHORO (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said the industrial sector bears a heavy tax burden and promised reforms in the upcoming budget.
Speaking at a consultative meeting with industrialists at the Jamshoro Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the minister highlighted the government’s efforts to protect the country from default despite a strained national treasury.
He was presented with a traditional Ajrak and cap by Chamber President Mian Tauqeer Tariq.
Iqbal stressed that strengthening industries is vital for national progress. He noted the adoption of the IMF programme and improvements in foreign exchange and the stock market despite rising inflation.
He said taxes on ordinary citizens will be reduced, and authorities will tackle tax evasion. Export promotion will be prioritised to reduce the trade deficit, while industrialists will receive relief measures.
The minister also urged cooperation against electricity theft, confirmed special provincial budgets for industrial zones, and updated that new motorway projects are underway.
Iqbal emphasised that investment is critical for Pakistan’s growth and that industrial development will create employment opportunities for the country’s youth, helping build a stronger economy.
