Pakistan signs three key agreements with Asian Development Bank to boost infrastructure projects

Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed three major agreements to finance ML-1 Karachi-Rohri section, Quetta Bus Rapid Transit, and Balochistan Water Resources projects.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have inked three significant agreements to support major development projects in the country.
According to the Economic Affairs Division, the agreements include project readiness financing for the ML-1 Karachi-Rohri section, project readiness financing for the Quetta Bus
Rapid Transit (BRT), and additional financing for the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector project.
The agreements were signed by Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Kareem, Secretary Railways Mazhar Ali Shah, and ADB Country Director Emma Fan.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Kareem expressed gratitude to ADB for their continuous support in advancing these crucial projects, saying, “We appreciate ADB’s commitment and look forward to working hand in hand to drive Pakistan’s development forward.”
ADB Country Director Emma Fan also praised the Pakistani government’s strong determination in executing these projects and assured continued collaboration. She said, “ADB remains firmly committed to supporting Pakistan and strengthening our partnership in the years to come.”
These projects are expected to significantly improve infrastructure, public transport, and water resources management in key regions, reflecting the shared goal of fostering sustainable growth and development.
