Inflation exacerbating woes of masses as prices of commodities keep surging

Statistics indicate 29.23 percent rise in inflation on yearly basis

ISLAMABAD (Dunya New) –Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) issued latest inflation statistics noticing a rise in prices of essential commodities across the country.

According to the statistics bureau figures, a rise of 1.30 percent in the prices of essential commodities was observed in one week.

Whereas, yearly inflation was recorded at 29.23percent.

Last week, prices of 23 essential commodities increased and seven items observed decline. The rates of 21 items stood stagnant.

The prices of tomatoes surged by Rs 20 per kilogram, domestic LPG cylinder by Rs 255. Rates of grinded chilies soared by Rs 125 kilogram, and garlic by Rs 20. The onion prices increased by Rs3 and a dozen of eggs by Rs10.

The figures show that the price of low-quality Basmati rice also rose by Rs5 and Rs 3 increase in the price of jaggery was observed.

Prices of pulses, potatoes, milk, banana, mutton and sugar also followed the suite in open market.
