The burden of circular debts soared to Rs.2.536 trillion in December 2022

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Electricity theft worth Rs230 billion during one year has been revealed in the already debt-laden Pakistan.

Despite circular debt, the energy departments have not ben able to collect outstanding dues.

According to the written reply of the Ministry of Energy to the National Assembly session, it was stated that lines losses have reached up to Rs113 billion in the country and the burden of circular debts soared in December 2022. 

According to the Ministry of Energy, Pakistan's circular debt in the current year till now stands at Rs343 billion. Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir has said the privatisation of feeders with heavy losses will be ensured.
