Gas meter rent has been increased from 40 rupees to 500 rupees per month
LAHORE (Dunya News) – After the increase in gas prices, already distressed public now have to bear the mountainous hike in meter rents as well.
According to the notification issued by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the rent of the gas meter has been increased from 40 rupees to 500 rupees per month. The price increase will be unconditional, even if the user does not consume gas, they will have to pay 500 rupees every month. The charges will be applicable from January 2023.
According to the notification, users will have to pay an additional amount in form of gas tariffs, meter rent, and remaining balances of three months. Sui Northern has started sending the amount in monthly gas bills.
Regarding this matter, a spokesperson for SNGPL said that the decision is taken by the government, and it will not be applicable to consumers who used less than 0.9 cubic hectares in November and December.
According to the spokesperson, users with low consumption of gas will be exempted from the additional charges.
