'Govt fixes intervention price of Rs5000 per 40kg of cotton to protect interests of farmers'

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Minister for National Food and Security Syed Fakhar Imam says Government has fixed the intervention price of 5000 rupee per forty kilogram of cotton to protect the interests of the farmers.

Talking to a delegation of farmers in Multan today he urged farmers to be careful during cotton picking process to ensure quality of the crop.

He said this policy has been devised for the protection of the interests of the farmers and to ensure procurement of the quality cotton.

He said if the traders show reluctance to procure cotton at the invention price then Trading Corporation of Pakistan will be bound to purchase cotton at government’s fixed intervention price.
