Rupee gains Rs1.09 against USD

The greenback closed at Rs161.23

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The exchange rate of US Dollar weakened by Rs1.09 in the interbank on Monday against Pakistani rupee.

The greenback closed at Rs161.23 on first business day of the week compared to previous closing of Rs162.32.

Since start of July, dollar has risen by Rs3.36. However, the greenback has lost 7.2 rupees or 4.36 percent of its value from its peak of 168.43 in August 2020.

Meanwhile, the price of euro depreciated by Rs1.33 and closed at Rs189.88 against the last working day’s trading of Rs191.21 the State Bank of Pakistan reported.

The Japanese Yen closed at Rs1.46, whereas a decrease of 96 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs221.94 as compared to its last closing of Rs222.90.

The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal decreased by about 30 paisa each to close at Rs43.89 and Rs43.28 respectively.
