Govt likely to slash petrol prices by Rs 1.50 per liter

OGRA has sent a summary to the federal government

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In order to provide relief to the masses, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is likely to slash prices of petroleum products from April 1.

Sources privy to the matter told Dunay News on Tuesday that petrol and high speed diesel prices will presumably be reduced by Rs1.50 and Rs2.50 per liter respectively.

A summary in this regard has been sent to the federal government by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) today and the new prices will come into effect from April 1 following the premier’s approval.

Sources said that the price of petrol is likely to come down by Rs 1.5 per liter, a proposal to reduce the price of diesel by up to Rs 2.5 per liter is also under consideration. The current prices can be maintained by raising the levy rate.
